Common mistakes
ン is the last member of the シ, ツ, ソ, ン family, and stroke direction is the only reliable way to keep them apart. ン's long stroke starts at the bottom left and sweeps up to the right, like シ's. ソ's long stroke starts at the top right and falls down to the left, like ツ's. If you can feel which way your pen moved, you know which character you wrote, even when your handwriting gets messy. ワ starts with a short left vertical before its corner stroke. Leave that vertical out and you have written something much closer to フ. ヲ is rare outside its job as a particle, but its order is simple: two horizontal lines, then the long stroke that falls to the left.
